FIEMME SPRUCE IN CANADA

SUCCESSFUL APPRECIATION FOR THE FIEMME SPRUCE IN CANADA.

The last edition of Mondomusica – Cremona October 6th-8th 2006 was an occasion of great satisfaction for Ciresa,as old and new customers visited the booth for buying tonewood.
One new customer, in particular, was important for Ciresa, as statement of the recognized quality of the tonewood coming from the Fiemme Valley.
Looking through the encyclopedia under “Canada” ,you can find that one of the most important source of the national economy is wood.
The wide forests of Canada are well known all over the world and the trees of “sitka spruce” are largely used for the production of musical instruments and piano soundboards.
It is well known that piano manufacturers as Yamaha or Steinway&Sons make a great use of Canadian spruce for their production.
Fabio Ognibeni and Piera Ciresa ,among the many visitors and buyers at the Fair booth, noticed a man,who was making his choice of spruce tops for violins and cellos, expressing appreciation for the quality of the wood.
The violin-maker could come from the States as from any country in Europe. He registered himself as Tom Wilder, of the famous Luthier workshop Wilder&Davis in Montreal (Canada).
The Ciresa Co. has been delivering the spruce tops from the Fiemme Valley for many years all over the world,U.S.A.Japan,Taiwan,Australia, South Africa and Europe, but the astonishment facing a canadian luthier has a different flavour.
Wilder&Davis Luthiers is a well known Luthiers atelier (www.wilderdavis.com) and the visit of Mr. Tom Wilder during the Fair is a reason of pride for Ciresa and its wood.
Kelvin Scott and Joseph Curtin from the States,as well as Peter Beare from London, are some of the most important customers for Ciresa,as they are enthusiastic estimators of this tonewood, coming personally to the Fiemme Valley to carry out their selection .
The qualified sound characteristics of our spruce are more and more appreciated and now this value is giving impulse to the innovative loud-speakers – Opere Sonore-,invented by Fabio Ognibeni, that Ciresa is now ready to launch on the international market. (www.operesonore.it).
